India Beat Cameroon 2-1 to Extend Winning Run at FIFA U-15 World Cup 2026
GANGTOK, OCT 25: India continued their impressive run at the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival Azerbaijan 2026, defeating Cameroon 2-1 in their second Group K match on Sunday.

The Blue Colts took an early lead through a first-minute own goal by Cameroon defender Fareil Ngobo. However, Cameroon equalised in the 20th minute after India’s Muhammad Sohil Khan scored an own goal.

R Lalremruatfela restored India’s lead in the 27th minute, helping the team secure all three points at the Hovsan Competition Complex Pitch 1B in Baku.

Goalkeeper Jenit Ningthoujam played a crucial role in India’s victory, producing several important saves, including stopping a penalty to preserve the team’s advantage.

India Make Strong Start Against Cameroon

Despite the rainy conditions, India made an immediate impact. Deepak Singh Arambam’s corner in the opening minute created confusion inside Cameroon’s penalty area, with Ngobo’s attempted headed clearance ending in his own net.

Cameroon responded through Khan’s own goal in the 20th minute, bringing the contest level. India, however, regained the lead seven minutes later when Lalremruatfela found the net.

The Indian defence held firm in the closing stages, while Ningthoujam’s crucial interventions helped the team maintain its advantage until the final whistle.

With the victory over Cameroon, India became the only team in Group K to have won both their matches at the time of the report.

India are scheduled to face Grenada later on Sunday before concluding the qualification stage against Bahrain and Senegal on October 26.

The teams’ performances across the five qualification-stage matches will determine their respective performance tiers for the second phase of the tournament.

India will look to maintain their momentum as they continue their campaign at the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival Azerbaijan 2026.
