PM Modi Conferred Uzbekistan’s Highest Honour for Foreign Leaders
New Delhi, August 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Sunday conferred with Uzbekistan’s highest state honour for foreign leaders, the “Oliy Darajali Do’stlik” Order (Order of Highest Friendship), in recognition of his contribution to strengthening the enduring friendship between India and Uzbekistan.

The prestigious honour was presented by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reflecting the growing depth and importance of the India-Uzbekistan partnership.

Accepting the award, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the honour to the 1.4 billion people of India, describing it as a symbol of the longstanding friendship between the two countries and their civilisations.

Prime Minister Modi said the words of appreciation expressed by President Mirziyoyev were, in essence, a tribute to the age-old ties, shared heritage and civilisational connections between India and Uzbekistan.

He further emphasised that the honour carries an added responsibility for India to work closely with Uzbekistan as partners of the Global South, with a shared commitment towards the welfare and betterment of humanity.

The conferment of the “Oliy Darajali Do’stlik” Order marks a significant recognition of the contribution towards strengthening bilateral relations and underscores the deep-rooted civilisational bonds between India and Uzbekistan.

The honour also highlights the steadily expanding India-Uzbekistan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with both countries continuing to build on their historical ties and deepen cooperation across various areas of mutual interest.
