CM Prem Singh Tamang Inaugurates Refurbished Sikkim Guest House in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, SEPT 09: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Wednesday inaugurated the vertically extended and refurbished Sikkim Guest House at Punjabari in Guwahati, marking the completion of its upgradation aimed at providing better accommodation and greater convenience to people from Sikkim visiting or residing in Assam.

The upgraded facility now has 20 rooms, including two VIP suites, along with a quarter block comprising five flat units and two dormitories. The Guest House is expected to provide a comfortable “home away from home” for Sikkimese visitors, particularly students from the state pursuing higher education in Guwahati.

Addressing the gathering after the inauguration, Chief Minister Tamang urged officials, guests and visitors to take ownership of the facility and ensure its proper upkeep and maintenance. He stressed that collective responsibility would be essential to preserve the upgraded infrastructure and ensure that it continues to serve the people of Sikkim in the years ahead.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the importance of serving traditional Sikkimese cuisine at the Guest House, saying that providing a taste of home would make the facility more welcoming for Sikkimese people living in or visiting Assam.

Tamang expressed hope that the refurbished Guest House would provide greater comfort and convenience to Sikkimese visitors while also strengthening the longstanding ties of friendship, cooperation and shared progress between Sikkim and Assam.

The upgraded Sikkim Guest House is envisioned as a welcoming facility reflecting the State Government’s commitment to the welfare and convenience of its people, including those living, studying or travelling beyond Sikkim.
